By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Fog and low visibility have affected flights at Nepalgunj Airport. According to our Nepalgunj correspondent, thick fog descended on the airport on Wednesday morning and has not cleared since. This has been affecting flights for the past two days.

According to the Civil Aviation Office of Nepalgunj, all morning flights to various hilly districts were cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday while flights for Kathmandu took place with more than five hours of delay.

Meanwhile, hundreds of passengers remain stranded at the airport, wondering when their flights will take place, if at all. Over 25 flights take off every day for Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Bajura, Bajhang, Kathmandu and Pokhara from Nepalgunj Airport.

In addition to Nepalgunj, flights all across the Terai region were affected on Thursday due to low visibility caused by thick fog. According to the Tribhuvan International Airport, flights to and from airports in all districts except Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi, Surkhet and Tumlingtar were affected due to haze cover.

Meanwhile, as per the forecast issued by the Meteorological Forecasting Division, districts across Terai will experience similar fog going into Friday as well. However, things will slowly start clearing from the afternoon that day.
