By Our Correspondent,Phidim, Dec. 13: Phidim Municipality in Panchthar district has categorised 192.50 square kilometres of land under its jurisdiction into two groups – agricultural and non-agricultural.
As required by the National Land Use Policy 2015 and the Land Use Act 2019, the municipality took its geography, needs and soil suitability into account and classified the land into the two categories, Deputy Mayor Radha Krishna Neupane said.
He informed that the local level had designated the commercial, industrial, forest, mining and public land as non-agricultural.
Similarly, flood plains, archaeological sites, tourist destinations and areas at risk of natural disasters have also been deemed non-agricultural. “All other land, though, have been declared arable,” Neupane said.
The land was classified by the municipality’s land classification task force formed under Neupane. The task force also formed a land use plan for Phidim.
