Kathmandu, Dec 11 : The Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has kicked off a special campaign 'Women rights: human rights'.
On the occasion
of the 74th International Human Rights Day, the Society has staged
demonstrations in 16 districts as part of its special campaign.
The campaign
which has been put in place to end violence and discrimination against women
and raise voice for women empowerment would continue, HURPES sources said.
Under the
campaign, district chapters of the Society on Saturday staged demonstrations in
Butwal (Rupandehi), Bharatpur (Chitwan), Khalanga (Salyan),
Tikapur (Kailali), Biratnagar (Morang), Mangalsen (Achham), Khandbari (Sankhuwasabha), Baglung, Battar (Nuwakot), Jaleswor (Mahottari), Nepalgunj (Banke), Sandhikharka (Arghakhanchi) and Dhulabari (Jhapa).
Likewise, the
Kathmandu, Dang, Surkhet and Gorkha chapters of the Society held interactions
on the occasion.
HURPES
general-secretary Ram Krishna Baral informed that placards carrying message
'let us implement women rights as human rights in actions'. (RSS)
