Kathmandu, Nov. 17: The ruling coalition has appealed to the people to make the
candidates of the Left-Democratic Alliance victorious in the election to the
members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Provincial Assembly (PA)
slated for November 20.
Issuing a joint appeal today, Nepali Congress president
Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pusha Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’,
CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha
(RJM) Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC urged the people to vote for the common
candidates of the LDA for safeguarding the constitution and stability and prosperity.
The leaders have pointed out the need for exposing and defeating the political forces that dissolved the parliament and those who are for regression in the election.“Our resolutions, commitments and manifestos have been made public. As the electoral alliance of the ruling parties has been for the first past the post (FPTP), it is usual for the concerned parties to appeal to people to vote for their respective parties. This does not harm the spirit of the alliance. With a clear majority, the alliance can form the government after the election and there can be political stability as per the spirit of the constitution,” read the joint press release.
It is mentioned in the appeal that as the threat of
regression has not subsided as yet, the same attitude will get back if the
ruling alliance fails to garner a majority.
It is known to all that this alliance was formed in 2021 May
as the then government violated the constitution, laws, procedures and processes
and dissolved the parliament two times and got engrossed in corruption at a
time when the people needed most the vaccines against COVID-19. The alliance
was formed against all these wishful and regressive steps. As the threat of the
attacks of the regressive and dictatorial forces still existed even after the coalition
government, the pro-constitution forces stood together and formed an electoral
alliance for the local level election held in May and this election being held
on November 20,” read the press release.
The appeal appreciated the government for holding the
local-level election in a free and fair environment.
