Commission begins investigation against Citizenship Issue of Rabi Lamichhane

Basanta Parajuli, Bharatpur, Nov 16: Election commission initiated the investigation against petition file against candidate of Chitwan, constituency no 2, Rabi Lamichhane.  

Petition is filed against President of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Lamichhane seeking to cancellation of his candidacy as he has not yet abandoned Nepali citizenship.   

Assistant election officer of election commission office of Chitwan constituency no.2, Ishwar Acharya informed that the commission has conducted enquiry to Lamichhane with related to the petition.

The letter of investigation against Lamichhane had been received by secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra party, Chitwan krishan Prasad Bhushal.  

Rajkumar Pandey on Tuesday has filed petition seeking cancelling of Lamichhane candidacy. 

Acharya specified to Gorkhapatra that clarification was sought from Lamichhane based on letter of commission.

However, Ravi Lamichhane claims through facebook that he has abandoned the United States citizenship and activated Nepali citizenship four years ago. 

Acharya informed that the clarification taken from Lamichhine will be sent to election commission.
