By TRN Online, Gorkha, Nov. 6: Chairman of CPN (Maoist
Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has come up with 10 projects of
strategic importance and nine projects of high importance for the development
of Gorkha district.
Chair Prachanda is contesting from Constituency 2 of Gorkha
in the election for the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) slated to
be held on November 20.
He is the common candidate of the ruling coalition.
The projects have been included in the commitment paper he
made public during his election campaign.
Development of road,
education, health, tourism promotion, agriculture, herbs, commercial husbandry,
skill training, and preservation of arts, culture, and literature are also
included in the commitment paper addressed to the people of Gorkha.
Chairman Prachanda, also the former Prime Minister, has pledged to start economic development and prosperity
from Gorkha itself.
Describing his role to bring in the republican setup and the
new federal constitution by means of revolution and the peace process, Chair
Prachanda has assessed that the dream to give a new life to people by solving
problems related to livelihood and building a prosperous Nepal with social
justice is yet to be translated into action.
Some proposed projects in the commitment paper:
1. Palungtar Airport to be resumed and Palungtar to be developed
as an ingenious smart city.
2. 1200MW Budhigandaki
hydroelectricity project, a national pride project, will be immediately
implemented while other hydropower potentials will be explored and moved forward.
3. Agriculture
Campus under the Agriculture and Forest University will be operated soon. As
decided earlier, the campus will be located at Chyangli in Ward 7 of Palungtar
Municipality. Technical education will be expanded across the district
including in Campuses and Gorkha Secondary School.
4. Benighat-Arughat-Larke
Road which links with the Ruila border will be completed soon.
5. Irrigation
facilities will be ensured for flat land areas located in Gorkha such as Palungtar,
Gaikhurtar, Chyangitar, Dhuwakottar, Kundutar, Buddhsinghtar, Mucchoktar,
Buttatar, Ghyalchoktar by means of irrigation projects including water lifting
so as to increase agricultural products. River control/embankment projects will
be initiated to save farmland at the banks of rivers.
6. Gorkha district will be developed as a
tourist destination. A historical and religious tourist circuit will be
developed linking Ligligkot, Budhikot, Lakangkot, Siranchok Gadhi, Sulikot,
Takukot, Barpak, Gorkha Durbar and Manakamana.
To promote the
Himalayan tourism initiative will be taken to enlist Sirandanda-Nimchepokhari-Dudhpokhari-Nagepokhari-Naradpokhari
in the national tourism project.
Initiatives
will be taken to develop areas such as Siranchok, Bhachchek, Sirandanda,
Ajirkot and northern Gorkha’s Barpak, Rubinala, Manslu trekking route, Larke
pass as the Himalayan tourism. New trekking routes will be developed mixing
places of cultural and natural beauty, and a special cultural village will be
built by conducting a study. Steps will also be taken to enlist Gorkha Durbar
and Manakamana Temple in the international heritage.
Income-generating
projects will be made by associating unified settlements built after the
earthquake of 2015 such as Barpak with tourism.
7. Initiatives will be taken to ensure the operation of Ruila border point around the year and to construct an international dry port in Nubri area.
