Dengue cases reach 46,768, daily COVID-19 cases fall to 6

Kathmandu, Nov.1:Nepal has recorded more than 46,000 dengue cases as of Monday. According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 54 people died of dengue this season. 

As per the data provided by the MoHP, 46,768 cases of dengue have been reported and 54 people have died from across the nation. Among the total dengue deaths, one was confirmed in the last 24 hours. 

According to the MoHP, Bagmati Province has reported the highest number of dengue cases at 36,441 followed by Lumbini Province with 4,656 cases.

 Likewise, 1,791 cases were detected in Province 1; 1,185 in Sudhurpaschim Province, 1,266 in Gandaki Province, 765 in Madhes Province and 664 in Karnali Province.

Of the top 10 districts with large number of  dengue cases, the highest number of cases are reported from Kathmandu at 13,566, flowed by Lalitpur with 9, 295 cases.

Likewise,  Makwanpur  has 5,045 cases, Bhaktapur 3,967, Dang 2,203, Chitwan 2,180 and Rupandehi 1,179 cases.Dengue is widespread throughout the country, with local variations in risk influenced by climate parameters as well as social and environmental factors. Dengue is caused by a virus of the Flaviviridae family and there are four distinct, but closely related, serotypes of the virus that cause dengue (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4).

Six new cases of

COVID-19 recorded

The MoHP on Monday recorded six new cases of COVID-19 through PCR tests. 

The nationwide COVID-19 tally through the PCR method reached 1,000,556 and that through antigen tests reached 152,155.

Of the total 887 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 436 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests while 451 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.

The active caseload is 522 on Monday. 

Meanwhile, 36 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during that period. Nepal has now recorded 988,015 cases of recovery.
