By TRN Online, Lalitpur, Oct. 28: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur
Deuba has remarked that the creative role played by late centenarian Satya
Mohan Joshi for promoting and improving Nepali language and literature has an
unmatched importance.
Addressing a tribute assembly held in memory of Joshi, PM Deuba
made it a point that Joshi was also a witness to different historical events
including the Rana rule, the Panchayat rule and the changes brought about by
the People's Movement II in 2006.
"BP Koirala, first people-elected Prime Minister of Nepal,
had appointed Joshi as the director of the department of archeology by
identifying Joshi's capability even at that time. Creative role Joshi played in
preserving and promoting Nepali language and literature is unmatched,"
said PM Deuba.
The PM said the government honoured Joshi with Shatabdi Purush
(centenarian male) for his invaluable contribution to the country.
He said that the country has suffered a big loss with the demise
of Joshi as culture is the main basis to make a country known around the world,
and Joshi was a culture expert of the country.
"The nation has incurred a big loss. Joshi's contribution is the nation's asset and it should be preserved. I assure that the government will cooperate in efforts to this end. I wish for his perennial peace and express condolences to the family members," said PM Deuba.
