Nepalgunj, Oct. 21: Kohalpur Municipality has given pace to its activities to remove the unauthorised hoarding boards, banners and other promotional materials from the city area.
Bir Bahadur Thapa, city police chief, informed that they had paced up the removal of all promotional materials that have spoiled the beauty of the city.
He informed that around 500 flash boards and hoarding boards had been removed and the municipality would take action against those who did not abide by the rules.
The municipality had fined Civil Bank Rs. 16,000 for placing 32 hoarding boards in the electricity poles without permission, informed Mayor Purna Prasad Acharya.
He added the billboards confiscated by the metropolis had been returned to the bank.
The municipality had warned that those placing promotional materials without permission would be taken action according to the Advertisement Act 2017.
It had already removed most of the unauthorised promotional materials from the eastern part of Kohalpur, between Rohini Khola and Madan Chowk areas, informed the municipality.
Similarly, the municipality also removed the footpath businesses. It removed the illegal businesses operated in the footpath from Chaurahajari to Sajha Chowk of Kohalpur.
Stating that the campaign to remove the shops and stalls placed on public places and footpaths is going on, Mayor Acharya said.
“We have removed the shops and stalls operating by encroaching the pavements in front of Kohalpur Chowk, Kohalpur City Development Office and in front of Krishi Hat Bazaar,” he said.
Similarly, the municipality has prohibited vehicles from parking in
the 500-meter area from Kohalpur Chowk, as the risk of accidents increases due to random parking of vehicles in the area.
