Alina, Dev and Yunisha declared best talent of Okhaldhunga

Kathmandu, Oct. 19: The talent search programme organised by Okhaldhunga Kala Sahitya Samaj Kathmandu concluded in Khijiidemba Rural Municipality-5, Okhaldhunga recently. 

Among 117 participants, Alina Rai, Dev Bahing and Yunisha Khadka were declared best talents of Okhaldhunga.

Alina Rai from Mane Bhanjyang Rural Municipality won the first place in singing while Siddhicharan Rural Municipality's Dev Bahing became first in literature and Khijidemba's Yunisha Khadka in dance. The three were awarded 'Okhaldhunga Pratibha Award 2079' each with Rs. 30,000 cash and certificates. Okhaldhunga Kala Sahitya Samaj had hosted the programme with the aim of selecting hidden talents of the rural areas. 

Tara Bal, Nabina Neupane and Dhanmaya Ghimire received the second, third and the consolation prizes in literature genera receptively.   Likewise, Prakash Chandra Mulicha, Bhumika Bishwokarma and Som Bir Tamang won the second, third and consolation prizes receptively for singing. 

Similarly, in dance, Sarishma Tamang, Manisha Rai and Junu Subedi won the second, third and consolation positions respectively.

 Cash prizes of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 2,000 were awarded in all the three categories, along with certificates and tokens of love. Famous singer, writer and dance director of Okhaldhunga were judges in the four-day competition, said the president of the society Raj Rai.

 Khijiidemba Rural Municipality chair Gambu Sherpa has announced that 2 ropani land will be provided for the construction of the society's building.

Umang Shrestha, the ward chair of Siddicharan Municipality Ward No- 12, announced that a talent search programme will be held in Siddicharan Municipality next year.

Meanwhile, Okhaldhunga Kala Sahitya Samaj also honoured five personalities.

Two people from Okhaldhunga, who have contributed for a long time to singing and writing, were honoured while three others were given encouragement honours. 

Singer and composer Shakti Kumar Shrestha was honoured for this long contribution to singing.  Shrestha, who recorded his first song in Radio Nepal in 1986 is famous for his songs Maina Charilai, Phul Phulyo Lalupate, Kahan Bajyo Madalu.

 Similarly, special award for writing was presented to journalist and poet Chetanath Dhamala.  Likewise, the encouragement honour for writing was given to journalist, writer, and lyricist Ramnath Ghimire while  Niruta Century and Buddhi Bahadur Subedi were honoured for dancing and singing respectively.
