Mahottari, Oct. 19: Saroj Chaudhary, a member of Hotel Business Association, Madhes Pradesh, abandoned the hotel business and has started animal husbandry.

The young businessman living in Matihani Municipality-9 of Mahottari district was known as a hotelier until a few years ago in Jaleshwar, the district headquarters.

Chaudhary, who operated the RS Family Hotel at Khaira Chowk in Jaleshwar with some of the money he had earned in foreign lands while working there for eight years, said that he has started animal farming after the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that he had to shut down the hotel, which was running well, during the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that after the pandemic, he left the hotel and ran a sweet shop in Jaleshwar and after seeing the effects of the pandemic remain, he also left it and shifted to animal husbandry and dairy industry.

Chaudhary opened RS Dairy and Animal Farm in Ward No. 9 Bahuarwa of Matihani Municipality and now he is enjoying the new business.

He opened the animal farm by taking about three bighas of land on lease, he said, "After the COVID-19, I was burdened with debt, but I am happy after working hard and opening an animal farm and dairy." His farm now has 57 animals, including 10 cows, 22 buffaloes and 25 calves. He said that eight workers are employed in his farm.

He said that he produces around 100 litres of milk a day.

Chaudhary said that he opened a dairy in the headquarters of Jaleshwar and sold milk from there.

He also claimed that there is no such big animal farm in this area.

He said that the animal farm and dairy industry has been operating for only eight months and said that this business is good and peaceful compared to hotels and sweet shops.

“I think this business is the best because there is daily income, there is no sale of goods on credit and there is no dispute with anyone about the transaction,” he said.

He said that while operating the hotel, he would operate till late at night and there would be quarrels every day with drunkenness, and there was a problem of taking payment from customers.
