Political parties only alternative to political parties: Oli

Damak, Oct. 11: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli has said that the alternative to the political parties can be only the political parties in a democracy.

Speaking at a programme organised in Damak, Jhapa, on Monday, Oli urged people to not believe baseless claims bashing political parties and their leaders. 

“Do not follow those who say that the parties have not done anything and the leaders do not understand the reality,” he said.

He also requested everyone to look at the developments that have taken place in recent years, especially under his premiership. 

The construction of infrastructure, development of railway and expansion of Nepal’s access to the sea show that transformation is only possible through political leadership, he claimed. 

However, Oli said that everyone had the right to stand as independent candidates and asked all to respect this democratic right. 

He also stressed the need for competent leadership to develop the country.
