Kathmandu, Oct.2 : This year’s Dashain festival is likely to be muddy. Moderate to light rain is forecast to continue for three to four days in the coming week from Monday. The weather system developing in the Bay of Bengal has a direct impact on the Nepalis territory, said Meteorologists on Friday.

Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga said that the weather of most parts will be affected from Ashtami (October 3) and its direct and indirect effect will last for a week.

Stating that if the low pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal moves northwest, the weather of the whole country of Nepal will be affected, he said.

“When analysing the situation for the next week, the weather may be affected for about a week,” he said.

According to him, as the day of monsoon withdrawal approaches, the pattern of rains of the past will be repeated.

Experts are of the opinion that the effect of rain in Province 1, Madhes Province, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces will be more than other provinces during Dashain.

As the influence of the Bay of Bengal will come in, we have to wait for a few more days to confirm the withdrawal of the monsoon of this season, the officials of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

Monsoon, which started on June 11 last year, exited from Nepal on October 11. According to the Department’s analysis, the period of active rain in Nepal is 112 days on average based on the arrival and departure of monsoon. However, in recent years, the monsoon period has been pushed forward in South Asian countries including Nepal.

Climate expert Dr. Dharma Upreti said this monsoon is likely to exit from Nepal in around October 15. Dr. He added that with the prediction that the monsoon will end in India’s Uttar

Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next 3 days, partial results will also be seen in the Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal.
