Warehouse with date-expired medicines sealed

Birgunj, Sept 8 : District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has sealed the warehouse of G Pharma Link Pvt. Ltd. at Adarshanagar, Birgunj, after finding a large number of dates expired medicinal drugs.

According to the DAO, the warehouse contained medicines whose consumption dates had expired five years ago. 

A team led by Parsa’s Assistant Chief District Officer Bhimkanta Paudel had reached the warehouse after receiving a tipoff. The team constated officials from the commerce department, food technology and quality department, consumers’ rights protection forum, and Nepal Police.

The administration has also given a written order to the company’s manager, Pradip Shrestha, to be present at the DAO with all the documents of the company and stored medicines within three days.

“The quantity of medicines seized from the warehouse is large. The medicines will now be inspected thoroughly by experts and further details will be revealed,” said Paudel.

“The warehouse has been sealed as the medicines whose dates expired in 2017-2019 were kept together with other fresh medicines. The further legal process will be initiated as per the investigation reports,” Paudel added.

Meanwhile, Ajit Bhujel of the Consumers’ Right Protection Forum said that the authorities had delayed the raid despite receiving the tipoff much earlier.
