Kathmandu, Sept 8 : The government has intensified its effort to bring cases of dengue across the country under control.
A high-level meeting organized at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar Wednesday under the chairmanship of Nepal government’s chief secretary Shanker Das Bairagi has decided to take more effective steps in the days ahead.
Secretaries from the ministries of health and population, drinking water, federal affairs and general administration and other officials were also present in the meeting.
The meeting’s aim was to discuss the present scenario of dengue across the country and steps for its prevention, control and treatment.
As per the meeting’s decision, the Ministry of Health and Population will coordinate and assist all three tiers of the government in dengue prevention and control.
“The search and destroy campaign of larvae of mosquitoes transmitting dengue will be implemented more effectively. Audio and visual awareness on dengue will be disseminated through different mediums throughout the country,” a statement of the meeting read.
A mobile ringtone will also be prepared to generate awareness.
The high-level meeting also directed concerned authorities to not let any issues affect the treatment of dengue patients.
