Tulsipur, Aug 29 : For the overall development of the Dang Valley, five municipalities here have accorded priority to the Babai corridor. They suggested the Ministry of Urban Development include the project in the 20-year strategic plan being developed for the development of the Dang Valley.
According to them, the corridor is important in the development of all five municipalities in the valley.
The Babai River is located on the northeastern side of the Dang Valley through Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City, Dangisaran Rural Municipality to Babai Rural Municipality.
Similarly, excavation, conservation, and preservation of Sukourakot Dangi Sharan Palace in Ward No. 11 of Tulsipur, and the development of Rajkot as a tourist attraction are included in the proposed plan.
Similarly, the strategic plan has also incorporated the construction of a road to reach Nepalgunj via Bhanjyang, Babai Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 which is the last point in the valley, construction of a high-dam on the Gwar River to provide irrigation and water supply facilities in the valley.
A trekking route to reach Dangisharan Durbar through the historical, religious, and environmental areas like Chhillikot, Khumkot, Tharkot, Suikot and Titelek, an entry route into the valley from the provincial capital, a tunnel in Lamahi Ghorahi area, and a medical college with a capacity of five hundred beds are included in the strategic plan.
Mayor of Tulsipur, Tikaram Khadka, said that the Babai corridor has been included in the policy and programs of the local body. He said that in order to take a leap in the development of the entire valley, the Babai corridor should be given priority and implemented.
Huma DC, Deputy Mayor of Ghorahi Submotropolis, said that the construction of a tunnel at the Lamai Ghorahi road section should be included in the strategic plan to facilitate easy entry to the valley.
Kul Bahadur Khatri, chairman of Babai, said that the shortest road to reach the border point with Nepalganj would be via the Bhajyang.
Shambhu Giri, chairman of Dangisharan, said that the protection of Dangisharan King's Palace, Sukourakot, which is associated with the identity of Dang, and the operation of an agricultural campus by including three municipalities in the western region should be included in the strategic plan.
