Solukhumbu, Aug 21 : Local businesses were happy after a camp on tax education and registering biometrics for tax administration purposes was operated in Nechasalyan Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu district.
The camp was organized for two days in Nechabihibare Bazaar in coordination between the Nechasalyan Chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI) and the Taxpayer Service Office, Okhaldhunga.
“The camp provided knowledge on tax to the locals. Local businesses had to reach the tax office in the Okhaldhunga district to get registered in the tax system. The camp allowed biometric services and allowed local businesses to get registered in the tax system,” said Bina Rai, deputy chairperson of Nechasalyan Rural Municipality.
Rai also thanked Nechasalyan’s FNCCI for the initiation.
“The camp was needed for the local businesses here. They couldn’t get registered in the tax system due to the lack of motivation in visiting a different district and staying in line for hours,” said Hemraj Bhattarai, chairperson at Nechasalyan’s FNCCI.
During the two-day camp, more than 250 businessmen of Nechasalyan did the biometrics and got registered in the tax system.
Taxpayer Service Office, Okhaldhunga, chief SP Singh said that the camp also assisted in the government’s target to bring every business under the tax net.
“It was a helpful camp to avail of services. I got registered in the system with ease. Many of my friends also got registered. We were reluctant to reach Okhaldhunga for the purpose earlier,” said Khemraj Ghimire, a local businessman.
