Kathmandu, Aug 18 : The Family Planning Association Nepal (FPAN) Valley Branch has organized an inter-school speech competition among students with disabilities.
The speech competition was organized on the occasion of the 23rd International Youth Day on Tuesday focusing on the sexual and reproductive rights of people with disability.
Students from 13 different schools in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts participated in the competition.
Anjana Chaudhary of Adarsha Saula Secondary School, Lalitpur, won the first prize in the competition while Elisa Phuyal and Yogesh Rai of Adarsha Secondary School, Bhaktapur, won the second and third prizes respectively.
Likewise, Sharmila Tamang of Central Secondary School for the Deaf in Kathmandu, and Juna Maya BK of Adarsha Saula Secondary School, Lalitpur, won consolation prizes.
Manager of the FPAN Valley Branch Sharad Aryal said this was the first such program organized on sexual and reproductive health focusing on school children living with disabilities.
He said that the FPAN has been providing every service available in the office free of cost to the children and families of disabled people.
FPAN Executive Committee Secretary Rabi Shrestha and the project focal person shed light on the programs of FPAN.
