BY OUR CORRESPONDENT, Urlabari, Aug. 11: Kanepokhari Rural Municipality of Morang district has decided to provide free education to the students studying in grade 11 and 12 in all government schools within the municipality. The municipality has introduced ‘Free Education Kanepokhari Rural Municipality’s Wish’ programme in its policy and programmes of the current financial year.
Rajmati Ingnam, chair of the municipality, said that the municipality would provide free education to the students studying in grade 11 and 12 of four government schools: Janasewa Secondary School, Ramailo Bahumukhi Campus, Sikshya Bikash Secondary School and Shree Secondary School.
The students residing in the municipality and those who had passed Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from schools of the municipality will be facilitated with the free education, he added.
The municipality would provide Rs. 1,000 for the admission fee and monthly fee of Rs. 4,800. The students will have to pay registration free and buy uniform and books on their own.
Santosh Ghimire, chief administration officer of the municipality, informed that the municipality had introduced the free education programme to facilitate the students with higher education under the guardianship of their parents.
Janasewa Secondary School’s headmaster Damodar Sigdel complained that there was a lack of coordination between the school and rural municipality.
He said that the students studying a technical course- Plant Science—in his school should also be facilitated with free education. “These students have been studying the course with an annual fee of Rs. 34,000,” he added.
