Landslide sweeps away four houses in Dolakha

Charikot, Aug 10 : Four houses were swept away when a recharge pond was constructed in Khorathali Community Forest in Ward No. 3 and 6 of Bhimeshwar Municipality of Dolakha collapsed after heavy rainfall on Sunday night. 

Additional five houses are at risk of landslide.  However, no human casualty was reported. 

Hariharan Siwakoti, ward chair of Ward No. 3, informed that the landslide affected and vulnerable families were rescued the same night, and the situation returned to normalcy.

He informed that crops grown in 100 ropanis of land were damaged by the landslide that occurred when the water of the two-meter deep pond spilled suddenly. 

Similarly, a landslide triggered by the heavy rain in Big Rural Municipality-4 had buried five houses and put five other houses at risk, said a local Narayan Bahadur Shrestha. 

The vehicles going from Singita to Laduk have also been stranded after the landslide, he added.
