By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Aug. 10: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) is preparing to organise Jobs and Skills Fair 2022 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu from November 3 to 6.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, acting president of CNI Krishna Prasad Adhikari said that the CNI has decided to organise the Jobs and Skills Fair for the first time to bridge the gap between job seekers and the employment opportunities in the country.

At least 500,000 people look for employment in the country every year. It is also seen that various companies are demanding employees from drivers to management level.

However, on the one hand, the companies are not able to get employees as per their requirements while the people who are looking for employment are not able to apply and get in touch with the respective companies on the other.

Adhikari said that the fair would address the issues of job seekers and employers by developing skilled human resources as per the present and future needs.

“CNI Jobs and Skills Fair 2022 will work as a bridge to connect different companies and job seekers in one place. Similarly, there will be a broad discussion on how to meet the needs of employers and the demand for skilled employees,” he said.

By understanding the gap between the availability of skilled manpower and the market, the gap between potential job seekers and available jobs will be reduced, said the CNI.

The fair would help identify the needs of policy and curriculum to create world-class manpower in Nepal, said Adhikari.

According to the CNI, national and international companies will participate in the fair and extensive discussions on various issues related to skill development will be held.

The panel discussion will focus on development of human capital in the potential fields of information technology, hospitality and agriculture.

“We expect more than 200 companies to participate in the three-day fair. We hope that more than 50,000 people, including corporate houses, innovation, students of educational institutions, service and manufacturing industries, private, public and government officials will visit the fair,” he said.

In the programme, the participant job seekers can apply for the jobs in the participating companies through an app which will be developed by the CNI, the CNI said.
