CAN appoints Prabhakar national team’s coach

Kathmandu, Aug 9 : Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday appointed former India all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar as the Coach of the national men's cricket team.

Issuing a press release, CAN informed about the appointment of Ranji Trophy-winning coach Prabhakar. He had played 39 Test matches and 130 One Day International matches for Team India. Prabhakar has also worked as the bowling coach of the Afghanistan Cricket Team along with Ranji Trophy teams of Delhi, Rajasthan and UP Cricket Association. 

The right-handed batter and medium-pace bowler Prabhakar said he was excited to work with the Nepal team.  “Seeing the interest for cricket in Nepal, their talent & skill level, I’m looking forward to working with the Nepal cricket team. 

I want to make them into a cricketing force to be reckoned with.”

Prabhakar made a Test debut against England on the 12th December 1984 and played his last Test match against New Zealand on 8th November 1995. 

He made an ODI debut against Sri Lanka on the 8th April 1984 and played his last ODI match against Sri Lanka on 2nd March 1996.

After Pubudu Dassanayake resigned, the post of coach remained vacant since July 20. Dassanayake only served for eight months in his second tenure as a Coach of Nepal.
