By Our Correspondent Nepalgunj, Aug 1: The timely completion of the construction of a concrete bridge at Maduwa Ghat of Rapti River has facilitated the people in the area with easy movement and business facilitation.
While most of the construction companies that have been awarded the contract for the construction of various bridges and roads are lagging behind the schedule for the development projects, Tundi Rasuwa Kumar Shrestha JV has completed the construction of a 550-metre long concrete bridge at Maduwa Ghat on the Rapti River at the border of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality Ward No. 2 and 5 on time.
After the completion of the bridge on time at a cost of Rs. 730 million, people of the area have become very excited as they can soon travel with their vehicles for the first time.
Director of the contractor company, Sujit Shrestha, said that although there is a little work left on the side of the bridge, after the completion of the construction of the bridge, the movement of vehicles will be started.
Tapta Poudel, Chairman of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality, said that in the absence of a bridge, the residents of that area had to go a long way via Agaiya.
He maintained that if all the construction companies performed their duties in the same way, the development would be expedited.
He said that because of the river, movement of people was difficult especially during the monsoon as they have to cross it in boats.
The construction of the concrete bridge had started in 2017 and was supposed to be completed within five years i.e. by the end of June 2022.
According to the construction company, the concrete bridge has 11 pillars, a 7.5 metres wide space for vehicular movement and a 1.75 metres pedestrian path on both sides of it, making the total width of the bridge 11 meters.
Vipatram Tharu of Rapti Sonari-5 said that after the construction of the bridge, people from Kachnapur, Samsherganj, Dhakeri and Kohalpur can come to Baijapur anytime.
