Daily NEPSE turnover nears Rs. 5 billion

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 29: With the increase in the benchmark of share market index, NEPSE, the daily turnover has also been increasing over the days.

Daily turnover of NEPSE increased to Rs. 4.97 billion on Thursday. It was the highest turnover in last five and a half months. The turnover had recorded Rs. 5.94 billion on February 13, 2022.

Earlier, NEPSE had set a new record of the highest daily turnover of Rs. 21.64 billion on August 15, 2021. The share transaction had recorded the lowest of Rs. 719 million on June 17, 2022.

Shares worth Rs. 18.94 billion had been traded in five trading days from July 24 to 28. 

On Thursday, a total of 11,955,076 shares worth Rs. 4.97 billion of 221 companies were bought and sold in 72,450 transactions. 

With significant fluctuation, NEPSE index again posted a double-digit growth on Thursday, the fifth trading day of the week.

The NEPSE index, which saw a growth of 23.83 points on Wednesday, has increased by 15.49 points (0.73 per cent) and closed at 2,127.47 points today.

The NEPSE index has increased by 110.73 points over the five trading days of the week.

Index had increased by 61.05 points on Sunday, 54.45 points on Monday and 23.83 points on Wednesday. However, the index had dropped by 44.8 points on Tuesday.

The sub-indices of all groups, except non-life insurance, manufacturing and others, increased.

Sub-index of development bank group saw a highest growth of 85.42 points, followed by microfinance and hotels and tourism whose indices increased by 70.73 points and 64.96 points respectively.

The sub-index of finance group has increased by 59.77 points, hydropower by 29.98 points and life-insurance by 15.11 points.

Similarly, banking sub-index rose by 1.66 points, trading by 4.73 points, investment by 0.11 points and mutual fund by 0.07 points. However, the sub-index of manufacturing and processing group has decreased by 24.71 points, others by 3.25 points and non-life insurance by 0.55 points in today’s transaction.

Out of 221 companies traded today, the share prices of 147 companies increased and of 61 declined.

The share price of Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company saw a positive circuit of 10 per cent.

Likewise, the share price of Rastra Utthan Laghubitta Sanstha increased by 9.99 per cent, Excel Development Bank by 9.89 per cent and Himalayan Power Partner by 9.78 per cent.

However, the share price of Radhi Bidyut Company has decreased by 3.91 per cent, Balephi Hydropower by 3.85 per cent and Green Ventures by 3.84 per cent.
