By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 2: Aina Jhyal Ko Putali (Butterfly On A Windowpane) directed by Sujit Bidari is scheduled to be released on September 9.  The production team announced the release date while unveiling two posters of the film on Friday.

The film was selected for the prestigious film festivals like South Korea's Busan International Film Festival, Bangladesh's Dhaka International Film Festival, Czech Republic's Zlin Film Festival and Australia's Asia Pacific Screen Award.

The film made history by becoming the first Nepali film to be selected in the New Current Section with the huge prize money in Busan while its director Bidari won the Best Director Award in Dhaka.

Bidari had earlier written and directed Savitri, a 14-minute short film.

Aina Jhyal Ko Putali is his first feature film as a director.

The film revolves around a future dream of a 13-year-old girl studying in a mountainous village. But every time she gets close to realise her dream, some obstacle comes to shatter this.

Bidari said that he had prepared the story by comparing the teenager's dream with a butterfly stuck in a window like a mirror.

“The butterfly stuck in the glass window sees everything outside but can’t get out no matter how hard it tries. The same is true to the condition of the main artiste of our film,” said Bidari.

The film also portrays the reflection of the women of Nepal. According to Bidari, an important part of the film is the brother’s effort to help her sister after he dreamed that his sister was dying.  Through this relationship, the film has pointed out the need for a change in the patriarchal thinking as well, he added.

The film, which has a budget of over Rs. 100 million, features Siru Bista, Kanchan Chimariya, Dinesh Khatri, Raj Thapa, Bisha Chamling Rai, Umesh Shrestha and Mallika Shrestha.

The film, produced under the joint banner of Icefall Productions and Local Cinema, is co-produced by Akash Poudel, Prabin Sangbo, Sujit Bidari, Ram Krishna Pokhrel and Sushant Shrestha.

Amar Maharjan has directed the cinematography of the film while Kiran Shrestha is its editor.
