By Our Correspondent Sarlahi, June 24: Community schools in Sarlahi district have started teaching in English medium after the newly elected people's representatives took initiative towards it.

All schools in Chakraghatta Rural Municipality started running classes in English medium in Early Child Development level in the first phase.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, chairperson of the rural municipality, inaugurated English medium classes at Janata Secondary School, Aaurahi, by distributing books written in English to the students.

Yadav said that the English medium education has been started with the objective of enabling the students in community schools to compete with the students in private schools. The municipality has a plan to expand the new initiative to other schools in an effort to improve the quality of education.  "Our aim is to ensure competitive education to children from low-income families studying in community schools," said Yadav.

According to his election manifesto, chairman Yadav has started English medium education in all the schools of the municipality starting from the early child development class.  He has plans to expand that to other classes in the days ahead.

Laxmi Kant Ray, headmaster of Janata Secondary School, believe that English medium will lure more students to community schools now.

The newly elected people's representatives have said that the shortage of teachers in the municipality, construction of physical infrastructure, enrollment of students and other works will also be taken forward with priority.

Harinarayan Ray, a local of Chakraghatta, said that new representative initiated important works for the improvement of education provided in the community schools.

There are 10 community schools in the rural municipality.
