By Our Correspondent Bajura, June 19: The drinking water project for 400 household initiated by province government in the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 has been stalled in Sigada, in Budhiganga Municipality-10, Bajura.
Mithun Saud, a local of Sigada, said that the project has not been completed in two years though the completion was scheduled for mid-2020.
The government had allocated Rs. 3 million for the project. About 21 taps should have been installed with this money.
Although the government has allocated a huge amount of money for the project, only little work has been completed so far.
Although the Consumers' Committee has taken the money saying that the construction work of the project has been completed, the taps have not been installed, said Saud.
Till now, various projects, including Salledi Drinking Water, Pandelchhada Drinking Water, Khokela Sigada Drinking Water and Malika Drinking Water, are in operation in Sigada.
Saud said that the leaders have been forming drinking water consumer committees and demanding money every year and misusing the money without working on those projects.
Chairman of Sigada Drinking Water Management Padma Bahadur Saud said that seven taps should be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 million by the province government, but the work has been stalled as the locals have demanded more taps. Stating that only 21 taps can be installed with the budget allocated, he added locals will have to work themselves since they have demanded more taps from the same budget.
