By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 4: When some well-wisher organisations of the Nepali Congress have scheduled their general conventions, the general conventions of its sister organiations are still uncertain.
NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel on Friday informed that the party’s well-wishers organisations have scheduled their general conventions. But the dates of the general conventions of it sister organisations general would be fixed only after the NC Central Working Committee meeting would instruct them to do so.
“The party had instructed its sister organisations to cancel their general conventions during the time of local level election. Now, the local election is over but the election for the District Coordination Committee is yet to be concluded. The party will call its CWC meeting to discuss the general conventions immediately after the DCC election concludes,” he said.
The Nepali Congress directives-2076 provisioned 13 sister organisations and 18 well-wisher organisations. Nepal Women Association, Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Prajatantra Senani Association, Nepal Farmers Association, Nepal Dalit Association, Nepal former Army Association, Nepal Adiwasi-Janajati Association, National Democratic Disable Association, Nepal Muslim Association, Nepal Tamang Association, Nepal National Magar Association and Nepal Thakur Society are listed as NC’s sister organisations.
Nepal Trade Union Congress, Nepal Teachers Association, Nepal Civil Servant Union (Association), Nepal Cultural Association, Nepal Democratic Foreign Employment Professionals Forum, Administration, Management and Development Centre, Nepal Democratic Sherpa Association, Nepal NGOs’ Federation, Democratic Professors Association Nepal, Nepal Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA), Center for Democratic Engineers Nepal (Siden), Democratic Doctors Association, Nepal Press Union, Tribhuvan University Democratic Staffers Association, Democratic Forest Technician Association-Nepal, Nepal Kumal Association, Democratic Newa: Khala and Democratic Agriculturists Association are well-wisher organisations of the party.
Among them, Democratic Professors Association Nepal has scheduled its general convention from June 9 in Kathmandu. According to Association’s general secretary Jagat Timalsina, the general convention will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Likewise, Nepal Press Union has scheduled its general convention for July 22-23.
