By Rajan Rawat, Humla, June 2: The price of cement per sack has come
down by 61 per cent in Simkot, Humla district headquarters, as the southern
parts of the district, Salisalla and Dulli Kuna have been connected to the road
network.
Now, per sack of cement costs about Rs. 3,700 in Simkot as it is
transported by the donkeys from Dulli Kuna to Simkot. Previously, it would cost
about Rs. 6,000 when transported by airplane.
Saroj Adhikari, a construction entrepreneur, said that the price
of the cement per sack has been cheaper now as it is transported by truck up to
Dulli Kuna and then by donkeys to Simkot all the way from Nepalgunj.
Presently, over 80 donkeys are used in transporting cement every
day, which has made it cheaper for carrying out development works in
Kharpunath, Simkot and Namkha Rural Municipalities.
