Newly elected KMC mayor Sah's declaration on Health

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 27: There are nine points of health in the election manifesto made public by Balendra Sah, the newly elected mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). 


1. Health clinics with qualified physicians, nursing professionals, pharmacists, and diagnostic labs for regular health check-ups in each ward would be started, and health insurance, ambulance service, and health care service will be set up in each ward. 

2. It is stated that the quality of infrastructure will be improved, proper services will be provided, sanitation including a healthy environment will be built in the existing medical hospitals, and services facilities of existing health workers will be enhanced. 

3. Jogging and exercise parks will be constructed as a sustainable control measure for chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. 

4. Starting well-facilitated ambulance service and operating service via call centres in ownership of KMC. 

5. Door-to-door health checkups and services to elderlies above 70 years. 

6. Provision of the health service card, in which records of public and private hospitals will be kept. 

7. Health insurance will be provided to taxpayers as per tax paid.

8. Coordinating with the federal and provincial governments for insurance services.

9. A mental health support line will be started at the call centre number.
