Online, Kathmandu, May 26: The Election Commission has decided to hold re-election
in Budhiganga Municipality of the Bajura district, invalidating the voting held there on May 13.
The re-voting
will be held at the polling station of the municipality. The concerned office
of the returning officer has been instructed to fix the date of re-voting at the
earliest and hold the election.
The EC
made a decision to this effect on Thursday.
Issuing
a press release, EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel also said the EC
decided to write to the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer Chief District
Officer of Bajura Upendra Raj Paudyal, Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP
Chaturbhuj Ojha and Superindent of Police of the Armed Police Force stationed
there from their posts within three days and take departmental actions against
them because they acted negligently and affected free, fair and impartial
manner of election.
The EC has asked the government to take department action
against them within three months and inform the EC about the punishment given
to them.
