held after the promulgation of the Federal Democratic Republic Constitution has
elected representatives in municipalities. Excited to assume the offices, newly
elected chiefs of the local governments have taken different decisions, some
funny, some interesting some genuine.
Here we present some of such decisions
the municipal leaders made while assuming their offices.
Holiday to celebrate victory
Rupani Municipality has declared a holiday for Monday to celebrate victory in the local level election. The
municipality holiday celebration added up to the three consecutive days as the earlier two days –Saturday & Sunday- were public holidays. The decision to
celebrate the holiday on Monday is believed to be declared directly on the behest
of the newly elected chairperson of Rupani Municipality Dinesh Kumar Yadav.
To provide Rs. 15,000 to mourning
family
At the first meeting of the newly elected people's representatives in Narayan Municipality Ward 1 of Dailekh decided to provide Rs. 15,000 to the mourning family within the Ward. If a person living in the Ward dies, his/her family will get Rs. 15,000, the decision reads.
To use bus as hearse
The Mayor of Sunar Bazar municipality in Lamjung came up with an interesting decision while assuming the office - to use the municipal bus as a hearse. He even directed the chief administrative officer to make arrangements for using a bus of the municipality as a hearse until the municipality arranges the proper vehicle for the same.

Insurance Facility
Congress candidate Bedbahadur Thapa has been re-elected the
Mayor for the second term in the Chairperson of Kaligandaki Municipality, Gulmi.
In the second stint he decided to provide free health insurance facilities to 15
thousand citizens of his municipality.
50% concession in Health Insurance for poor
Chandrakot Rural Municipality has taken the decision to provide a 50
per cent concession on health insurance for the citizens who are under the cluster
of downtrodden and backward.
The newly elected chairperson of the Chandrakot Rural Municipality
Yuvraj KC took this decision after assuming office.
Concession in electricity tariff
The RuRu Rural Municipality has taken the decision to provide
concession in electricity bills. The newly-elected Chairperson of the Rural Municipality Yadu Gyanwaly promised the
concession in the electricity tariff burden being carried by the people of RuRu.
Rs 1000 for birth of first girl child
The newly elected chairperson of Patan Municipality-10, Baitadi,
made the decision to provide an allowance of Rs 1000 to the mother if her first
child is a girl.
Dhanabahadur Kuwar who is elected as ward chairperson from
congress made the decision while assuming office.

Mayor of Lamkichuha Municipality, Kailali, Sushila Sahai has taken the decision to
provide Rs 2000 if a girl child is born. He decided to provide within her
municipality.
Free Health Insurance for differently able, family of martyrs
Chaur Jahari Municipality of West Rukum has decided to provide
free health insurance facilities to the differently-abled, families of martyred,
and downtrodden community.
The newly elected chairperson of the Rural Municipality Puspa Baadi
has taken the decision as he was assuming office.

treatment for chronic disease
Bahrabise Municipality Mayor
Balkrishna Baset has made the decision of free medical checkups and medical
facilities for those who are suffering from chronic disease and senior
citizens.
Free Ambulance Facility to pregnant

Municipality of West Rukum also decided to provide a free ambulance facility to pregnant women.
Free Health
Insurance, wifi in Jumla
The newly-elected Chairperson of the Hima Rural Municipality of
Jumla, Laxman Bahadur Sahai decided to provide free health insurance facilities
to the citizens of the Rural Municipality.
He decided to provide free health insurance as his first
decision. He also informed that the decision is
taken to start English education, Wifi and CCTV in the police stations, health posts,
and electric attendance system.

Newly elected Mayor of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Municipality Mina Lama promised that she will work for the prosperity of Hetauda. She is elected in the candidacy of CPN (Unified Socialist) from the coalition alliance. She promised that Hetauda will be known as the most convenient place for women and children. She said that for this, the public toilets will be increased and a sanitary pad machine will be installed.
