By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 22: As many as 13 independent
candidates have been elected either as chief or deputy chief at the local
levels across the country.
This data is based on the vote count results made public
by the Election Commission so far. The vote count of the local level election
held on May 13 is still coming out.
So far, results of 706 local levels have been made
public.
As per the results, 2 independent candidates have been
elected as the Chairpersons of two rural municipalities- Salpasilichho and
Manebhanjyanga- in Province 1.
In Madhes province, 2 independent candidates have been
elected to the vital posts of mayor and deputy mayor of Bardibas Municipality.
Similarly, in Gandaki province, an independent candidate
got elected as the Chair of Manang Disyang rural municipality.
Likewise, in Karnali province, 6 independent candidates
got elected to the vital posts of mayors, chairs, and vice-chairs.
An independent candidate got elected the Mayor of Chandan
Nath Municipality while another independent candidate got elected as the mayor
of Kalikot Khandchakra Municipality.
Independent candidates got elected as Chairs of rural
municipalities - Dolpo Buddha, Sanni Triveni and Chankheli- while an
independent candidate got elected as vice-chair of She Phoksundo rural
municipality.
