Jumla/ Achham/ Doti, May 17: Damodar Acharya and Prem Kali Budha from Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected chairman and deputy-chairman in Kanakasundari Rural Municipality of Jumla. 

According to the Election Office, Acharya secured 2,806 votes while Budha secured 2,380 votes. Their closest rivals for the chairmanship Dhana Bahadur Rai and for deputy-chairmanship Rita Khatri from CPN (Maoist Centre) garnered 2,562 votes and 1,945 votes respectively. 

Likewise, NC won the post of chairman in Kamalbazzar Municipality of Achham. Yagya Prasad Dhakal from NC secured the post of chairman with 4,288 votes while his competitor Katak Bhadur Saud from UML received 4,065 votes. 

Sarada Kumari Bista from CPN-UML had won the post of deputy-chairman with 4,528 votes. Her rival NC candidate Gauri Bhandari lost with 3,648 votes. Out of 10 wards in municipality, CPN-UML had won in seven wards, NC in two wards and independent in one ward. 

According to our Achham correspondent, Tek Bahadur Saud of NC with 3,112 votes won against CPN-UML's Lok Bahadur Saud (2,614 votes) in Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality. The post of deputy-chairman was won by CPN-UML candidate Bindu Rawal securing 2,731 votes. Her competitor Nirmala Saud from CPN (Maoist Centre) garnered 2,717 votes. 

Likewise, Prakash Bahadur Saud from NC won the chairman post with 3,181 votes leaving behind Dharma Bahadur Shahi of CPN-UML (2,018 votes). The deputy-chairman post was also won by NC candidate Netra Kala Shahi securing 3,100 votes. Her competitor CPN-UML's Mayadevi Budha got 2,254 votes.

Similarly, the final result of six various local levels of Doti have been announced. From CPN-UML Durga Datta Ojha in the post of chairman post and Jamuna Kumari Bohara in deputy-chairman post have been reelected in Jorayal Rural Municipality of Doti. Ojha with 3,449 votes won against NC's Dipak Kumar Bista (3,412 votes). Bohara secured 3,599 votes. She was followed by NC's Chanda Kumari Saud with 3,517 votes.

Likewise, NC's Ganesh Bahadur Khadka won chairman post and Laxmi Dhami deputy-chairman post in Aadarsha Rural Municipality. Kamal Bahadur Gadsila of CPN (Maoist Centre) and Bishnu Devi Bam have been elected for chairman post and deputy-chairman post in Bogatan-Phudsil Rural Municipality. 

In Sayal Rural Municipality, NC's Dharmaraj Joshi and Nirmala Oli secured chairman and deputy-chairman post. Likewise, NC candidates Ram Prasad Upadhyaya and Pashupati Khadka won chairman and deputy-chairman post in Purbi Chauki Rural Municipality, Bhairav Bahadur Saud and Dammar Kumari Bista won chairman and deputy-chairman post in Badikedar Rural Municipality.  

According to Rukum Election Office, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s candidates Birkha Bahadur Bista and Kamala Roka have been elected chairman and deputy-chairman in Sanibheri Rural Municipality of Rukum West. Bista with 6,019 votes was followed by NC's Gorkha Prasad Chanda (4,320 votes) and Roka with 5,958 votes by CPN-UML's Prakash Khadka (3,442 votes).

Similarly, Krishna Regmi won the chairman post with 3,779 in Sisne Rural Municipality of Rukum East. His closet rival Datta Bahadur Basnet of NC got 3,700 votes. CPN-UML's Gopal Rau with 3,761 votes won against CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Astha BK (3,474 votes). 

In Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality of Rukum East Puni Raj Gharti and Bhupendra Budha of CPN (Maoist Centre) have been elected chairman and deputy-chairman. Gharti who garnered 3,913 votes was followed by NC's Tejendra Budha (2,113 votes). Bhupendra Budha with 4,059 votes won against NC's Kamala Shahi (2,010 votes).

According to Kamal Raj Bhandari, Gorkha Election Officer, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s candidates Dipak Devkota and Anita Buhjel secured the post of chairman and deputy-chairman in Ajirkot Rural Municipality. Devkota with 3,787 votes won against his closet rival NC's Govinda Bahadur Gurung (3,289 votes). Bhujel with 3,532 votes was followed by NC's Indra Gurung (3,361 votes).
