66 candidacies withdrawn in Mahottari

By Our Correspondent Mahottari, May 4: Out of 15 municipalities in Mahottari district, 66 candidates in 14 municipalities have withdrawn their candidacies. The election schedule has been changed due to dispute in Samsi Rural municipality. 

In the district, 18 from Bardibas Municipality, nine from Jaleshwor Municipality, seven from Ramgopalpur Municipality, six from Sonama Rural Municipality, five each from Mahottari and Ekdara Rural municipalities, four from Bhangaha Municipality, three from Pipra Rural Municipality, two each from Gaushala, Orahi and Loharpatti Municipalities, one each from Matihani, Balawa and Manara-Siswa municipalities withdrew their candidature, according to the Election Office, Mahottari.

Most of the ward chairpersons have withdrawn their candidacies. Out of 66, 34 ward chairpersons have withdrawn their candidacies. 

Similarly, seven candidates for the post of chief and ward chairperson, three candidates for the post of deputy chief and vice-chairperson, 12 members and six women members have withdrawn their candidacies. 

A new schedule has been made public in Samsi Rural Municipality due to controversy after the final list of candidates was made public.

In Bardibas Municipality, Rudra Susling, who had given his candidature for the post of chief independently out of anger after the CPN-Maoist did not give him a ticket, withdrew his candidacy.
