Online, Kathmandu, May 3: Mayor candidate for Kritipur Municipality Prof. Dr.
Shiva Sharan Maharjan has expressed commitment for educational advancement,
good governance, enhancement of people's livelihood and health, and employment.
He said
so while inaugurating a contact office at Itagol, Ward no. 7 of the
municipality.
Maharjan is the Mayor candidate from the ruling
CPN (Maoist Center).
Itagol is
a place where the CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and
other leaders of the party had stayed here for a week in 1999 for a meeting of
the Special Valley Bureau. Then the party was in armed struggle against the
state.
Mayor candidate Maharjan pledged to the socio-economic
development of Kritipur.
The former chief of the central department
of education of the Tribhuvan University (TU), Maharjan also announced he would
devote all remuneration and allowances he would receive as Mayor to social
services.
Maharjan has made important contributions
to social, education, cooperatives, transportation, drinking water and other
development activities in Kritipur.
Similarly, the candidate for the deputy Mayor
Susheela Basnet made commitments that her candidacy was for the upliftment of
women in the municipality by means of employment and social status to them.
Candidate of Ward no. 7 of the municipality
Ram Chandra Dangol said that he would focus on solving the problems of the ward and
work as per the spirit of federalism and the rights of the local level.
Woman member candidate of the ward from the
party, Srijana Dhamala, member candidate-duo Kavir Bir Maharjan and Anil
Maharjan also spoke in the programme.
Raj Kumar Maharjan who won the previous
election as ward member from the place representing Nepali Congress and senior
citizen Harikrishna Maharjan were felicitated in the programme.
