Salina Maharjan wins Miss Newa: Nepal

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 3: Salina Maharjan has been crowned Nepal Telecom Miss Newa: Nepal 1142 this year. Salina   became this year's Miss Newa: Nepal by beating 18 other contestants in the 16th edition of the competition, 

Miss Newa: Nepal was organised by Nepalese Fashion Home at Nepal Academy Sunday night.

At the finale, Ashok Babu Shrestha, former president of NRN UK, the main judge in the competition, asked her what qualities she should possess to be the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

She replied him that before becoming the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, she should be able to develop her own leadership skills, promote Newari art, culture and language, and work to develop Kathmandu not only as a smart city but also a heritage city. 

She was crowned the title by Miss Newa: Nepal Krishna Maharjan of last year. Along with the main title, Salina bagged Rs. 100,000 and she has also been appointed as a goodwill ambassador of Nepal Kyokushin Seisin Kaikan Karate.

Likewise, Sabina Bajracharya of Thamel, Kathmandu, and Selina Prajapati of Thimi, Bhaktapur, became the first and second runners-up respectively in the competition. The competition was choreographed by Rojin Shakya. 

Likewise, Sirjana Maharjan won the title of Miss Talent, Lumanti Maharjan Best Nepali Language, Astha Shrestha Social Welfare Ambassador Chief, Atrisha Maharjan Social Welfare Ambassador Chief First Runner-up, Shila Prajapati Best Dress, Swechchha Maharjan Miss Public Choice, Sneha Shrestha Best Smile and Sirjula Maharjan Best Hair. Likewise, Kirti Duwal was declared Best Skin, Bijeta Bajracharya Miss Personality and Miss Photogenic, Sneha Shrestha Miss Discipline, Neha Mali Miss Charming and Bisheshata Manandhar Miss Friendship.  

Ashok Babu Shrestha, Saroj Shakya,  Ojesh Singh, Ashok Kumar Shrestha,  Singer Praveshman Shakya, former Miss Newa: Nepal Elisha Bajracharya, Laxman Maharjan, Mani Shree Ratna Bajracharya and Manju Karki Pandey were the jury in the competition.
