PCN draws attention of journalists

Kathmandu, May 2 (RSS): The Press Council of Nepal (PCN) has drawn the attention of seven online media journalists, including Janata Times Online Chair Ganesh Basnet. 

The Council has drawn attention to the fact that Section 14 of the Code of Conduct for Journalists 2073, (First Amendment, 2076) and Section 4 and 22 of the Election Code of Conduct 2078 were violated with the content posted by the journalists in social media.

As provided in the Code of Conduct for Journalists, the Council has drawn the attention of the journalists by conducting a trend study of the content circulating in the social media used and operated by the media.

The PCN has already taken action against 35 media outlets for disseminating news material in violation of the Election Code of Conduct. After the implementation of the election code of conduct, the PCN has been conducting special monitoring on the adherence to the code of conduct by the media across the country.
