Security committee inspects polling stations in Gulmi

By Tilachan Pandey Tamghas, May 2: The District Security Committee Gulmi has expedited inspection of polling stations and vote counting stations set up for the local level election to be held on May 13.  A team including Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Poudel has visited various places in Kaligandaki and Satyawati villages to inspect the polling stations, and peace and security situation.

Similarly, UML leader Shibahari Dhakal of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality urged the inspection team to create a fearless environment where the voters can cast their votes freely. 

Similarly, district vice chairman of the Unified Socialist Party Jhabilal Pandey urged the local government to make arrangements for the transportation of voters to the polling station to cast votes in easily.

 He said that it was not possible to reach the polling station on foot as some polling stations in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality were not easily accessible due to geographical reasons.

He said that vehicle passes should be provided to and from the polling station on the polling day.

Assistant Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Gare informed that the District Security Committee has inspected all the polling stations and vote counting centers in the district.

15 polling stations sensitive

According to the District Security Committee, 15 polling stations in Gulmi are highly sensitive.

According to the Committee, Gulmi, 15 polling stations in Kaligandaki, Malika, Madane, Satyawati and Chandrakot villages of the district are highly sensitive. Similarly, 41 polling stations are sensitive and 86 polling stations are normal, according to the DAO, Gulmi. CDO Poudel said that all arrangements have been made for the security of the sensitive pooling booths.

The polling stations have been categorised on the basis of geography, transportation, district boundaries and other issues. There are 142 polling stations in the district and 279 polling booths, according to the District Election Office.
