Kathmandu, Apr 21 : Santosh Sah, winner of BBC One’s MasterChef: The Professionals Rematch and runner up of MasterChef UK: The Professionals 2020, and the finalists of the latter British show have concluded their 10-day trip of Nepal.

The Nepal chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) had invited the chefs to Nepal under its campaign to revive the country’s tourism after the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.

zIt had named the programme ‘MasterChef Finalists Tour to Nepal’ and had hoped to promote Nepal’s culture and native food through it.

As a part of this tour, the cooks, dressed in chef’s whites featuring the national flag of Nepal, travelled to various destinations across Nepal including Pokhara, Janakpur, Chitwan, Sarlahi and Kalapatthar to send a message that the country is open to tourists and that its cuisine was unrivalled in the world, stated PATA in a press statement issued on Wednesday.

During his Nepal visit, Sah also released a video calling for the use of the Nepal Bhasa word “Aila” instead of “cheers” to promote Nepal’s indigenous drink and present a unique cuisine narrative to foreign tourists.

Through the press statement, PATA informed that it would soon organise a Nepal world food tour in coordination with the Nepal Airlines Corporation, Nepal Tourism Board and other national and international organisations.

Sah along with chefs Alex Webb, Bart van der Lee and Philly Armitage had arrived in Kathmandu on April 7.

Sah also received the Suprabal Janasewashree award from President Bidya Devi Bhandari during his stay in Nepal on April 14.
