One killed, four injured in road accident
One person was killed and four others were injured when a passenger jeep (Se. 1 Ja. 732) met with an accident in Swakhani, Melauli Municipality-7. The incident took place last night when it was carrying passengers from Shivnath to Melali in the district.

Tharu Barka Dance on the verge of extinction
The Barka dance, an important cultural tradition of the Tharu community in western Nepal, is on the verge of extinction due to financial difficulties. Once performed widely across Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, and Kanchanpur districts, the dance has now been confined to only Dang district where it is performed only occasionally in a single village. Among the many traditional and indigenous dances performed by the Tharu community during various festivals such as Mahotya, Maghauta, Chhokra, Hurdungya, Jhumra, Lathhawa, Laththi, Sakhya, and Paiya, the Barkha dance holds a special cultural and religious significance.
Sama Chakewa songs begin resonating in Tarai districts
The songs of Sama Chakewa have begun to resonate in Saptari and other districts of the eastern Tarai. Associated with the story of love between brothers and sisters, Sama Chakewa songs are now being heard in every household across the Madhes region every evening. In Tarai-Madhes, Sama Chakewa has traditionally been celebrated as a symbol of love. The festival began on Sunday, the day of Kharna, which falls on the auspicious occasion of Kartik Shukla Panchami. During this festival, sisters make clay figures of various shapes and pray for the long life of their brothers. Women of the community come together and play for 10 days, completing the festival on Kartik Shukla Purnima by ritually immersing the Sama Chakewa figures in ponds or rivers.
Nepalgunj roads struggle without traffic signals
Traffic management in Nepalgunj has been disrupted after the traffic lights installed in Nepalgunj were damaged during the Gen Z protest. The Road Division Office had installed traffic lights at Pushpalal Chowk, Dhambojhi, BP Chowk and Ganeshman Chowk in the city. Bhattachan held on fraud charge

'Detection dogs’ mobilised on Nepal-India border to control drug trafficking
Police have launched a 'Dog sniffing' campaign at the Nepal-India border to control drug trafficking in the border area of Sunsari. As soon as Chhath is over, the police have started mobilsing trained ‘detection dogs’ at the East-West Highway at Tinkune Chowk, Bhantabari, Koshi Rural Municipality-8, Sunsari. It has been said that a team of 12 Nepal Police and two dogs have started the campaign by checking here. Rescue of stranded tourists begins
A joint rescue team of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been deployed to rescue a group of 15 people, including three foreign nationals, who are stranded in snow at ‘Hidden Valley’ below Tukuche Himal in Thasang Rural Municipality-1, Mustang. The team had entered Mustang via the base camp of Dhaulagiri, the world’s seventh highest mountain, but got trapped due to heavy snowfall.
