Work to build a trekking trail to reach Dhaulagiri Base Camp through various wards of Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi has begun. A contract was signed last year for the construction of the Dhaulagiri Icefall Trail connecting Myagdi and Mustang districts. The Department of Tourism has signed a contract with Kalpavriksha Builders to construct the 18-km trail in two packages at a cost of Rs. 5.4 million.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has exported electricity worth Rs. 1.83 billion to India in a month (mid-July to mid-August) of the current fiscal year 2022/23. The power utility has exported 242.68 million units of electricity saved from domestic consumption to India. The Authority is able to earn an average of Rs. 59.3 million per day in Nepali month of Shrawan from electricity export. The Authority started selling the surplus electricity in the rainy season through competition in the day-ahead market of Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX) from June 2, 2022.
The Central Election Cell of Nepal Police is now preparing a security plan targeting the November 20 elections. A 25-member Central Election Cell has been formed under the command of Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sahakul Bahadur Thapa of the Department of Operation. The team will prepare the entire security plan for the upcoming elections and coordinate with the Election Commission Nepal and other agencies. Apart from this, a six-member 'Central Command Post' has been formed under the coordination of Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Tek Narayan Pandey to conclude the elections.
People in Bastipur, where Nepali Congress leader and socialist thinker Pradip Giri was born and brought up, and Lahan are now mourning his death. Saddened by the news of Giri’s death, the locals of Bastipur stopped their works on Sunday. They were seen gathered in local tea stalls, resting platforms and other public places, talking about Giri’s contribution to the society and the country’s democratic movement over the years.
