Vultures up by 22% in Pokhara and surrounding areas
The number of vultures in Pokhara and surrounding areas has surged by 22 per cent, according to the latest vulture census. The census conducted on the occasion of International Vulture Conservation Day revealed the number of the birds known as nature's scavengers has increased to 471 from 378 in 2023, said Pokhara Birds Society's Chairperson Manshant Ghimire.

Bodies of couple retrieved from landslide debris
Bodies of a couple who went missing in a landslide at Dhuma of Barekot rural municipality-6 in Jajarkot have been retrieved. Man Bahadur Chalauane, 47, and Prem Kumari Chalaune, 38, were buried by the landslide along with their home last night.

Defending champions APF register first win in League
Defending champions of the ANFA Women´s League, APF Club, registered their first win in the 2081 season. APF defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in a departmental derby played at ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, on Saturday. Army was defeated 2-1 by the defending champs in the final match of Round 2. One month after Tara Davis-Woodhall's Olympic title in the long jump, her husband Hunter Woodhall, a double amputee, won a Paralympic gold medal Friday at the Stade de France. Davis-Woodhall's rush into the stands for a celebratory hug from her husband became a viral moment during the Olympics, and the roles switched this time in the Paralympics. Woodhall won the T62 400 meters in 46.36 seconds, leaving Germany's Johannes Floors the silver in 46.90 and the Netherlands' Oliver Hendricks the bronze in 46.91.
