Landslides obstructing Sanfe Martadi Highway regularly
Sanfe-Martadi Highway in Bajura district has been facing regular obstructions since mid-July due to regular heavy rain and landslides. Now, the highway is further devastated and obstruction continues arising. 69 MW Marsyangdi Hydropower operating in full capacity
Marsyangdi Hydropower Project, a 69 MW capacity project in Tanahun district, is producing electricity in its full capacity lately. According to the project, heavy rainfall and speedy melting of snow had increased water flow in the river leading the hydropower to operate in full capacity. The Marsyangdi River originates from the Himalayas and weather and climate conditions play a major role in regard to its water level. Similarly, several small streams connect with the river before reaching the hydropower project in Tanahun. During monsoon, water level increases in the streams as well and gets mixed with the Marsyangdi River.
Industry registration up; 309 firms registered with investment commitment of Rs. 343 billion
Domestic and foreign investment of around Rs. 343 billion has been proposed during the last fiscal year 2021/22. According to the annual report released by the Department of Industry, a total of 309 industries both domestic and foreign nationals have been registered with an investment commitment of Rs. 343 billion. Of these, 91 large, 108 medium and 110 small scale industries have been registered.
Doubts arise about construction of park in Damak
The landowners who provided the land for the construction of a park, as well as locals, have begun to raise objections due to the delay in the construction of the Damak Clean Industrial Park, which was supposed to be built in Damak, Jhapa. Landowners and social parties have begun protesting eight years after the land acquisition for the establishment of a park with the goal of providing employment to more than 100,000 common people, after the park building campaign failed to take off.

Lumbini to host Buddhist conference in November
A council meeting of the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) on Thursday decided to host a Buddhist conference in Lumbini in November or December. Sanu Raja Shakya, member secretary of the Trust, informed that the meeting chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and chairperson of the Trust Jeevan Ram Shrestha took the decision to promote tourism after the risk of COVID-19 pandemic diminished. Minister Shrestha said that the projects under the Lumbini Master Plan would be completed soon. He also informed that a plan had been prepared on how to provide comfortable stay and easy site seeing to the tourists visiting Lumbini.
