Need To Promote Solar Power
Nepal is one of the countries that receive ample sunlight all the year round owing to its favourable geographical location. Almost all parts of the country are favourable for developing solar power. The country receives an average of 300 days of direct solar exposure with a fluctuation of not more than 33 per cent. Even if the country receives around six per cent of sunlight during the day, enough electricity can be generated for use during the day in industries, educational institutions, medical facilities, offices, shopping malls and other places.
Fear Of Saying ‘No’
As a child, we were taught that saying no is quite impolite and inappropriate. If we say no to our elders, it is considered to be rude. Saying no is off limits and yes is a polite and likable thing. And these unhelpful beliefs have created a big fear of saying no when you want to. This illusory belief is still in my mind and I cannot get out of it.
Pyuthan self-sufficient in flower production
For the past five years, flowers needed for Tihar have been available in the district. Since Radha Adhikari and Rekha Khatri of Pyuthan Municipality-4 Jumri started cultivating flowers, requisite flowers have been produced for Tihar every year. Police units still rely on rented rooms to provide security, says IGP Singh
Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dhiraj Pratap Singh, said that all the police units are not able to provide services from their own buildings and barracks as of now. Speaking on the occasion of the 67th Police Day on Monday morning at the Police Headquarters, Naxal, IGP Singh requested the government to make necessary arrangements. The Inspector General said that some police offices and barracks are forced to provide their service taking shelter in the houses of people and private agencies.
Russian 'kamikaze drones' strike Kyiv: Ukraine
Russian-launched "kamikaze drones" attacked Kyiv early Monday, the Ukrainian presidency said, describing the strikes as an act of desperation nearly eight months into a war that has claimed thousands of lives. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv shortly before the first explosion at around 6:35 am (0335), followed by sirens across most of the country.
Kalinga Literature Festival concludes
The Kathmandu edition of the two-day Kalinga Literature Festival (KLF) concluded here on Sunday. Inaugurating the festival on Saturday, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy Jagaman Gurung highlighted various aspects of common culture, religious beliefs, social life, and people-to-people-level relationship between Nepal and India. "Nepal is the brain, India is the soul," Vice-Chancellor Gurung said, adding that if the brain and the soul do not meet, great resentment can occur in society and the countries as well.
Repair work to resume power supply starts in Humla
Work to repair the canal of the Hildum small hydropower project, which was damaged by recent landslides, have started with public donations. Since it was not possible to arrange the immediate budget for the repair, the work started with the participation of the local administration, security personnel, and political parties in the district. Sajan Aidi, head of Hilduum Hydropower Distribution Centre, said that the work of repairing the 40-meter-long canal damaged by a landslide has started with public donations. “The Centre had earlier started the repair works on the canal but a landslide swept away its overflow section when the work was in progress. As arranging budget right away was impossible but the power supply had to be resumed by Tihar, the repair work has begun with labour donation,” he said.

Arghakhanchi Cement begins export to India
Arghakhanchi Cement has started exporting products formally from Monday. The company has organised a programme at its factory in Rupandehi and exported about 70 tonnes (1,400 sacks) of Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) cement to India in the first lot.
