Nearly 60 percent of budget spent in ten months, development expenditure only 28 percent

Kathmandu, May 15: The government's budget expenditure has reached about 60 percent of the annual allocation by the end of Baisakh (until May 14) of the current fiscal year, 2025/26.     

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), in the past ten months, a budget of Rs 1 trillion 173 billion 520 million and 100 thousand has been spent. For the current fiscal year, the government had brought a budget of Rs 1 trillion 964 billion 110 million, of which 59.75 percent of the annual allocation has been spent so far.     

The FCGO stated that out of the allocation of Rs 1 trillion 180 billion 980 million for the current fiscal year, 68.98 percent, that is Rs 814 billion 655 million 500 thousand, has been spent by the end of Baisakh.     

Similarly, out of the budgetary allocation of Rs 407 billion 888 million under the capital expenditure heading, 27.91 percent, that is Rs 113 billion 849 million 200 thousand has been spent. In terms of fiscal management, the budget expenditure so far is 65.30 percent.     

For this heading, the government had allocated Rs 375 billion 242 million for the current fiscal year, of which Rs 245 billion 15 million 400 thousand has been spent so far.     

By the end of Baisakh, the government's revenue has shrunk to 66 percent of the annual target. For the current fiscal year, the target was to collect total revenue of Rs 1 trillion 533 billion 446 million 900 thousand, and the government has so far collected Rs 1 trillion 12 billion 52 million 400 thousand.     

The government, which aimed to raise Rs 1 trillion 480 billion in revenue this fiscal year, has collected only Rs 988 billion 52 million 200 thousand, equivalent to 66.69 percent of the annual target, in the past 10 months.     

For the current fiscal year, the government aimed to receive foreign aid of Rs 53 billion 446 million 900 thousand, and it has been found that 33.28 percent of that target, that is Rs 17 billion 787 million 600 thousand, has been received so far, the FCGO stated.(RSS)
