Preparation of festival at lakeside on New Year underway

By Phadindra Adhikari, Lekhnath, March 20: Preparations are underway to celebrate the New Year, which is celebrated as a festival every year, as a grand celebration in the tourism capital, Pokhara, this year as well.

Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal (HAPN) is all set to host the 21st edition of the Phewa New Year Celebration on Lakeside from April 4 to April 14.

The organizer said that the celebration, which is to be held at the lakeside, will focus on tourism, culture and food.

"We organize the grand celebration to celebrate the New Year grandly. Different sub-committees have been organized for the purpose, "He said.

The association's first vice-president Deepak Shrestha and second vice-president Ganeshraj Pahari, have been given the responsibility of co-coordinating the festival.

It is believed that the festival will help promote domestic and foreign tourism by keeping economic activities alive along with the Gen-G movement and elections.

Main coordinator Subedi said that the festival will celebrate the Nepali New Year in a special way and also spread the message of Phewa Lake conservation.

Along with the promotion of the festival, the association has organized the ‘Jaun Hai Pokhara’ program in various cities of eastern Nepal from March 23 to April 4.
