Kathmandu, March 8: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that it is necessary to bring women into the policy-making levels of the state.
At a programme held today at the Prime Minister's Office to mark the 116th International Women's Day, PM Karki stated that women who are marginalized in society and deprived of the mainstream development were suffering more.
"It has become imperative to bring the voices of women, especially Dalit women, women from Karnali, women from Madhes, and women from marginalized communities, to the policy-making levels of the state," she said.
According to the PM, there has still been no improvement in the situation of marginalized women, including the women from the Dalit, Madhesi, and those from Karnali.
Prime Minister Karki emphasized the need to integrate the classes lagging behind the main stream of development, including women, into the mainstream and to ensure access to opportunities and resources.
She stated that ensuring the respectful participation of every citizen in nation-building should be the fundamental principle of democracy.
PM Karki on the occasion stressed that the main voice of the Gen Z movement on September 8 and 9, 2025 was also for equality and good governance, stating that active cooperation from every segment of society is needed to end injustice, discrimination, and inequality.
"Our constitution has guaranteed women's rights as fundamental rights. The constitution itself has established equal representation, inclusive participation, gender equality, and social justice as the foundation of the state system," she added. (RSS)
