Barahathawa (Sarlahi), March 8: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Amresh Kumar Singh has defeated Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa to be elected to the House of Representatives from Sarlahi constituency 4.
According to the final results announced earlier today, he received 35,688 votes, while his closest rival, Thapa, received 22,838 votes.
CPN (UML) candidate Amanish Kumar Yadav received 9,343 votes, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) candidate Rajnish Ray Yadav received 1,401 votes, and Janmat Party's Rakesh Mishra received 1,572 votes, shared Election Officer Binod Prasad Ghimire.
Out of 121,120 voters, 77,931 votes were cast in this constituency.
Likewise, RSP candidate Narendra Sah Kalwar has been elected a member of parliament from Sarlahi-3.
According to Election Officer Nawaraj Acharya, he received 46,890 votes while his closest rival was Nepali Communist Party candidate Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who received 13,338 votes. Sah won by a margin of 33,552 votes.
Likewise, CPN (UML)'s Hari Prasad Upreti received 5,776 votes, Nepali Congress candidate Binod Khanal received 6,624 votes, and Ujyalo Nepal Party candidate Tribhuvan Kumar Singh received 2,622 votes.
Sah has succeeded in his third attempt. Sah, a proportional member of the second Constituent Assembly, had filed an independent candidacy in 2074 BS. Sah then entered the election fray from the then Maoist Center in 2079 BS but lost again.
A total of 82,272 votes were cast in this constituency, which has 134,412 voters.(RSS)
