By Our Correspondent, Rukum Purba, Feb 13: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has viewed that the demands posed by the Gen Z correspond with those raised during the peace process but not met due to balance of power in the country.

Prachanda, also the former Prime Minister and former Chairman of the then CPN (Maoist) that led the decade long people's war, attributed the issues raised by the youths as the continuity of the people's war. He was addressing a function to mark the 30th anniversary of the people's war at Khabang Bagar in Bhume-2 of Rukum Purba district.

"Many issues raised during the people's war are yet to be met. Final calculation of our dream is yet to be made, issues and agenda are yet to be addressed, we have not forgotten our dream," said Prachanda, the former rebel leader.

Coordinator Prachanda said that his party tried best to bring changes while in government, including the one to provide land ownership certificate to some five lakh landless. However, such pro-people programmes were stalled once we were pulled out of the government."

"Now the war should be fought in the field of production," said Prachanda, adding that the entrepreneurship programme aimed at overseas returnees has not taken an expected pace.

He said the bill related to civil service and education could not be endorsed due to lack of adequate majority although the government led by him did extraordinary works for prosperity, corruption control and constitution implementation. "We initiated action declaring loan shark a crime, started investigation on Bhutani refugee, Children's Home, TU land, which frightened the middlemen, and then our government fell."

The NCP coordinator said the present situation was the result of negligence of the then ruling parties to his warning that corruption and bad governance will elevate people's anger that push the system into crisis.
